This weekend I was autocrossing at a National Pro Solo. It was at a live airport, so this F-16 pilot decided to impress us on the landing following his training mission.

He rode a 10 o’clock wheelie for easily half a mile as he landed.

Note my black E38 7-series in the bottom right of the photo. I was standing next to the photog when this shot was taken

Too bad he didn’t do like this one and decide to go off-roading.

Not to be a party pooper, but that’s standard OPs. The air brakes are tiny on the F-16, so they “wheelie” down the runway to help bleed off speed.

F-15s do it as well, but have a larger dorsal speed brake.

An A-10 will just open up their big ass decelerons and cruise to a stop.

‘Aerodynamic Braking’ to use some of the plane’s natural drag at higher angles of attack to the direction of movement to slow down. The probem is, yes, it’s Standard Procedure since they dont have actual thrust reversers and tiny brakes, but they can use the brakes if they have to on shorter runways. The video there is where they used the method but didn’t know about/forgot to remember or weren’t used to operating off of that particular runway length. I would like to know what words were used in the debriefing.
